If you are fine mixing resolutions then Alienware 25 Gaming Monitor - AW2518Hf at 359 USD would get you a better competitive gaming monitor and save a few bucks.Īssuming you are fine with a 60hz refresh rate then you will have a smooth gaming experience on the ASUS ProArt PA279Q. if you have 1000 dollars USD I would say you do have the money for both a gaming monitor and one for doing art.Īcer Predator XB271HU ~400USD on amazon right nowĪnd the ASUS ProArt PA27AC at ~650 USD would just slightly go over budget if you want to maintain identical resolutions across the two monitors.
Competitive FPS games benefit from a higher refresh rate though so if you are trying to be the best you can at these games you would be better served with a 144hz or 240hz monitor but there are drawbacks for professional work in the color gamut and brightness departments when buying a gaming monitor. TL:DR yes a 60hz IPS monitor that is meant for professional color work is good enough to game on. Id appreciate any educated suggestions, thank you. Im mostly interested in big title single player mindblow graphics stuff, but too much lag or noticeable performance issues or tearing ETC! would put me off. I would like to see if anyone with experience of that screen (or in general) could tell me how it is for gaming. Ive considered ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q but it seemed not so good image quality after all? Then i found the Asus ProArt PA279Q and it seems like a good compromise. So i thought i get a good gaming monitor now with a really good IPS true color screen that can rock creative work too. (I may buy a good display next year just for art tho but until then i need something good enough for my art too, and good enough to game on it further) I saw below 60 fps on testing and games only ever get more demanding.
I only know that i need a GOOD IPS panel and the sweet spot is 1440p 27 inch (or more?), not curved, since I want to use it for gaming and digital painting + photo editing, and 4k would just be too much to drive with new games on full even with my RTX 2080 and Skylake 6700. Im ready to cough up around 1000$ for it, but i want something good so i cannot get one for art and one for gaming just yet. Ive been struggling to find my new perfect monitor, since it does not exist, at any price.
